WSSAAA District and State AD of the Year

Every year, Athletic Directors around the state honor their colleagues for their service, work-ethic and professionalism. League athletic directors are recognized and chosen as AD of the year.  Those nominations are brought before WIAA district boards around the state to determine who among the finest will be honored at the district level, and ultimately represent their district at the WSSAAA State Conference.  It is at the state conference where athletic directors annually celebrate the accomplishments of these outstanding district athletic directors.  Below, you will find our past honorees and the Athletic Administrators who were annually chosen as WSSAAA State AD of the YEAR.

WSSAAA requires that all nominees eligible for WSSAAA STATE AD of the YEAR nomination meet the following requirements: <Minimum Requirements>
  • Nominees must be a current WSSAAA member
  • Nominees must have at least 5 years Athletic Administration experience

Additional criteria to be considered by selection committee:
  • Be recognized as an educational leader who maintains that athletics is an integral part of the total education program
  • Administer an exemplary athletic program that involves as many students as possible making full use of school and community resources.
  • Have made a significant impact on the lives of students.
  • Have used athletics as a catalyst to achieve some demonstrable progress in the social and cultural environment of the school and/or community.
  • Be active in league, district, regional and/or state committees.

Each WIAA District must select their District's candidate for this award in January.  The WSSAAA representative from each WIAA district is then responsible to collect the candidates resume information and letters of recommendation and submit to WSSAAA by the end of Jan.

WSSAAA reps, once you have a candidate who meets the above criteria, please continue by filling out the onine form <click here to continue>
